I’ve been playing violin for about 13 years. I originally started because some of my friends played violin and I wanted to be cool like them. Somehow as time passed, they all dropped it and I kept going. I was mainly involved in school orchestra from 6th to 12th grade, where I earned all-region and all-area titles and performed in recitals. I also played in a youth orchestra program outside of school, where I served as concertmaster of the top ensemble. I remember feeling like 6th grade was such a late start to violin, but time flew by and suddenly I wasn't a struggling beginner anymore.

Playing in the pit is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve always loved theatre, so in high school I played in the pit orchestra for the Little Mermaid and senior year I performed in the ensemble of the musical We Will Rock You, where I learned that acting and dancing is REALLY HARD (separately). But also wow it is so rewarding to put in effort and get better. In undergrad, I spent some time in the UT Symphony Orchestra and played in the pit for The Tales of Hoffmann with UT Austin’s Butler Opera Center. Now at Carnegie Mellon, I’ve played violin in the pit for Scotch'n'Soda’s productions of Into the Woods and Oklahoma!, and jam with my friends often.

Even as an engineer, music has always been a big part of my life, and I love finding ways to keep playing.

Maybe this page will be a good excuse for me to record and post some of my playing. Stay tuned.
